The Goliat FPSO is built and equipped to meet high standards linked to in-built safety and a healthy working environment adapted to the climatic conditions in Goliat field. Hyundai Heavy Industries contracted CB&I to perform the early detailed engineering phase (to AFD status) and provide technical input for the Goliat FPSO project.
Eni Norge AS is the majority owner and operator on the field. The water depth is around 400 meters. Eni licensed the design for a cylindrical, geostationary FPSO from Sevan Marine in order to exploit the field. The design life of the topside, utility and process plant is 20 years while for the steel hull the design life is 30 years.
The Goliat FPSO has been developed by Sevan Marine, and will have an oil production capacity of 100,000 bbls/day, a gas production of 3.9 million Sm3/day and an oil storage capacity of 1 million bbls. The Goliat Platform specifications as follows:

Contract: License
Field: Goliat, Barents Sea, NCS
Water depth: 380-400 m
Techical data:
Overall length: 112 m (bilge box)
107 m (process deck)
Diam. in waterline: 90 m
Displacement at
30.5m draft: 210,000 mT
Deck area: 9,000 m2 (process deck)

Crude storage capacity: 1,000,000 bbl
The total dry weight of the topsides, including the process plant and utilities, was calculated to be approximately 22,500 tonnes.
The process facilities were based on the following design capacities:
Total liquid processing: 17,500 Sm3/day (110,000 bpd)
Oil stabilization and desalination: 16,500 Sm3/day (104,000 bpd)
Produced water re-injection: 12,000 m3/day (75,500 bpd)
Sea water injection: 20,000 m3/day (125,000 bpd)
Rich wet gas processing: 3.9 million Sm3/day compression to 250 bar (137 MMSCF/day)
The Goliat platform will be equipped with a gas turbine with heat recovery and recycling to provide the necessary process heat. The electric cable from shore will be dimensioned to allow for an increase in energy supply.
The Goliat is an offshore oil field in the Norwegian sector of the Barents Sea. It is located 85 kilometres (53 mi) northwest of Hammerfest.
Recoverable reserves are 174 million barrels (27.7×106 m3). Production is estimated to continue for 10–15 years. The associated gas will be reinjected to increase oil recovery or will be transported to the processing plant at Melkøya.
Eni Norge AS is operator of the field with a participating interest of 65 per cent. Statoil owns the remaining 35 per cent as partner. Goliat is planned to produce 170 million barrels of oil during a production lifetime of 15 years. Eni Norge is part of Eni, an Italian integrated energy company with operations in more than 80 countries.
